Members of the 412th are expected to act at a higher standard than the average player in the MA. We should be perceived as a group of respectable and professional acting pilots that are willing to help in organized country efforts when they occur, and provide leadership when it is needed. We need to all take care to avoid any sort of open or private insults to other players. When tempers flare, we will be the ones who take a deep breath and keep the situation under control. Part of showing respect to other players will include saluting them. Friendly pilots may be saluted on the country channel, while enemy pilots should be saluted on the open channel for all to see. Use your best judgement as who should be saluted or not. Some general guidelines for saluting country members are generally that you know the individual or a squad that they belong to. Saluting of enemies is usually done following combat and to recognize a skillfully fought battle regardless of the outcome. Being able to salute your enemy after he beats you is difficult at times, but if it was a fair fight, it is only fair to salute the enemy's skill. - Members of the squadron should always strive to promote the 412th Fighter Squadron in a positive manner and support the squadron objectives and goals.
- Members should have a goal of flying the P-51 Mustang for at least 75% of their total fighter flights. Flying other A/C is acceptable, however while flying with other members, the P-51 Mustang should always be the aircraft choice.
- Members are required to use a squad approved voice communication program while flying and working with other squad members. The current approved program is Aces High Voice, which is built into Aces High. Proper radio etiquette is essential for squad cohesion during combat. See the TAC RADIO section of the Training pages or proper use of voice communications.
- Members are required to keep a current e-mail account and join the squad e-mail news group. All members are encouraged to participate in BBS, e-mail and news group discussions.
- Members are expected to work with "boot camp" recruits and help them understand squad regulations and to help them become part of the 412th teamwork environment.
- Members are highly encouraged to submit a personnel profile with a photograph of themselves. This information will be posted on a personal profile page for each member. The profile pages for pilots are accessible from the Roster page.
- Members are highly encouraged to submit a report on their personal gunsight choices along with information pertaining to their controls, settings and computer system information. This information will be posted on the Pilot Setups page and can be used by other members for training issues or PC hardware setups.
- Members should keep current copies of maps available for mission briefings and in-flight use. The Maps page will be kept updated with all current versions of tactical and target identification maps.
Squad Ranks The 412th uses USAF rankings similar to the ranks in place during WWII. All members are expected to follow the ranking system and respect the authority of higher ranking members. See the Ranking page for information on how the ranks operate and criteria for promotions. Resolution of Problems Any member who feels there is a problem within the squadron is encouraged to speak out. Depending on the nature of the issue, the member may elect to address the entire squadron, the CO or the XO. The CO is responsible to address whatever the issue is ASAP to try and find a resolution. No issue should be considered too minor or unimportant as to keep from reporting it.
Disciplinary Actions Disciplinary action will always be the last resort in problem solving within the 412th, however it can and will be used if there are problems that cannot be resolved through patient reminders and council by fellow members. In practice, all members of the 412th should always strive to maintain the professional image that the squad is trying to maintain. It is understood that this can be difficult at times, due to other influences outside of AH. Recruits that are in the two-week "boot camp" can and should be advised of issues by any member with a rank of at least Corporal. If a recruit fails to make corrections, they will be ejected from the squad. Senior members will be directly advised by the squad CO or XO of any potential problems that are seen. Failure to make corrections will result in a direct e-mail to formally address the situation. If further action needs to be taken, the offending member may be ejected from the squad. Voice Communication Part of good teamwork is excellent communication. In order to help us all communicate better, the 412th has established this set of communication guidelines that all members should try to follow. For more information on voice communications, see the training pages. |
