The 412th fighter squadron training programs are intended to help all members become better P-51 pilots. In order to help the pilots aquire specific skills, the 412th has developed skill badges that denote when a particular skill has been mastered by an individual. Each skill badge has a specific set of requirements that must be met in order for the award to be granted to a particular pilot. Just click on the badge to start learning that skill!
The 412th Expert Skill Badge is issued to members who successfully complete at least one of the skill modules available from the training pages.

An attachment badge will be issued for each skill that a member has become an expert in.
The TAC RADIO endorsement is issued to members who read through and acknowledge the general squadron communications guidelines and brevity codes. The member must then demonstrate their radio communication abilities while working with other squadron members.
The ACM/BFM endorsement is issued to members who complete the Air Combat Maneuver and Basic Flight Maneuver training.

Training can be completed by either:

1. Making a narrated film as shown in the Training examples.

2. Demonstrating the maneuvers to either the squad CO or TO.
The GUNNERY endorsement is issued to members who are able to destroy all specified targets (1 standard ammo load) during a training exercise with either the squad CO or TO.

Target List: TBD

The Gunnery Badge can also be earned after achieving two Marksman Ribbons
The HVAR endorsement is issued to members who are able to destroy 3 specified ground targets using one standard ordinance load (6x HVAR) during a training exercise with the squad CO or TO. A film may be sent to the squad TO in lieu of a live exercise.
The DIVEBOMB endorsement is issued to members who are able to destroy ground targets using both 500 and 1000 pound bombs during a training exercise with either the squad CO or TO.

Target List: TBD
The CV OPS endorsement is issued to members who are able to land, re-arm/re-fuel and then takeoff again from an aircraft carrier (CV) during a training exercise with the squad CO or TO.

Alternatively, a film, showing the entire sequence, can be made and sent in to the squad TO.
The AVIONICS endorsement is issued to members who are able to execute aircraft controls as specified by either the squad CO or TO in a live training exercise.

List:

1. Engine power settings

2. Auto-pilot settings

3. Rudder trim adjustments to correct heading during auto-pilot

4. Elevator trim adjustments to set climb-angle during auto-pilot
The FORMATION endorsement is issued to members who are able to fly in formation during a live training exercise with the squad CO or TO. Various formation maneuvers will be ordered which must be properly executed by the training pilot.

List:

1. Echelon right/left formation (tight)

2. Line abreast formation (combat spread)

3. Trail formation

4. Coordinated turn
The WINGMAN endorsement is issued to members who are able to maintain formation, use proper TAC RADIO procedures with their flight group and make coordinated attacks with their wing leader during live training exercises in actual MA combat situations.

The qualifications for the Wingman badge are based upon the observations of the ranking officers in the squadron.
